Great service and great £££ for the works carried by Ieuan and the team. No request was too much trouble and needless to say we are really happy with the quality of the works. Two new bathrooms, new plumbing and mods to existing, new water tank and boiler.
Off the gas grid? Your heat pump grant is £9,000.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays £1,500 more for homes heated by oil or LPG. It came in on 21 July 2026 and runs until 31 March 2027.
Takes about a minute and checks your actual Energy Performance Certificate. No obligation.
The £9,000 rate is for homes like these
Heated by oil
A tank in the garden and a delivery you have to budget for. This is the biggest group in rural Carmarthenshire.
Heated by LPG
Bottled or bulk tank gas. Counts for the higher rate in exactly the same way as oil.
You own the property
Homeowners and small landlords in England and Wales. The old heating system has to be a fossil fuel one.
The higher rate has an end date, and it's already published
The £9,000 rate is a temporary uplift. It runs from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027, and then the standard rate is expected to return.

Survey, design, grant application, install. It's not a same week job, so leave yourself room.
Four steps, and we do the grant paperwork
You never apply for the grant yourself. It comes off the price before you pay, so the figure you're quoted is the figure you pay.
Estimate online
Postcode, current fuel, a few details about the house. You get a range on screen straight away.
Survey at the house
We measure heat loss room by room and find the right spot for the unit. This is the step that decides whether the system works.
Fixed price and design
A written design and a fixed price, with the £9,000 already off. Anything that changes it comes up at survey, not on install day.
Installed and certified
Usually two to three days on site, then signed off to MCS standard and registered. That registration is what makes the grant payable.
Recently had a full bathroom and kitchen plumbing installation completed by IT Plumbing and Heating, including a brand new boiler and full pipework fitting throughout the property. The standard of work was excellent from start to finish.
Ieuan and his team were superb while we were carrying out our kitchen and bathroom refurbishments. Nothing was too much trouble and all work was carried out very professionally and to very high standards.
Left on our Google Business Profile by real customers. Most are for boiler, cylinder and bathroom work, which is the trade behind every heat pump we fit. Read them on Google.
What you've probably heard, and what's true
Most of the bad stories come from systems that were designed badly, not from the technology.
They stop working when it gets cold
They don't. These units keep producing heat well below freezing, which is why they're standard across Scandinavia. Sized properly for a Welsh winter, yours will hold temperature.
They're noisy
A modern unit is about as loud as a fridge from a few metres away. There are legal limits at your neighbour's boundary, and placement is part of the survey.
You have to rip out every radiator
Not usually. Lower flow temperatures mean some radiators need to be bigger. The survey tells us which, and it's often a handful rather than the lot.
What actually changes day to day
No more oil deliveries and no more watching the price per litre. The tank usually comes out of the garden altogether.
The tariff matters as much as the heat pump
A well designed heat pump gives roughly three units of heat for every unit of electricity. But electricity costs more per unit than oil, so on an ordinary tariff the sums come out tighter than people expect.
On a tariff built for heat pumps they don't. You get a much cheaper rate for a set block of hours, and the system heats the house and the cylinder then coasts.
-
Several suppliers offer one
Octopus run Cosy Octopus, and E.ON Next, OVO, EDF and British Gas each have their own. We're not recommending one. Terms move about, so we check what's live at survey rather than printing numbers that go stale.
-
We don't sell energy
We're not tied to a supplier and get nothing for pointing you at one. Go with whichever is cheapest for your usage.
-
Switching is a separate job
Nothing about the install depends on it. Move tariff before, after, or not at all.
- Cheaper hours: the system heats the house and the cylinder
- Standard rate: the house coasts on the heat it already has
Illustrative. The exact hours depend on which tariff you choose.
A Llanelli heating firm, not a national call centre
IT Plumbing and Heating is based in Llanelli. Ieuan runs it. When you book a survey, he's the one who turns up, and he's the one you speak to afterwards.
We've been fitting heating systems across South Wales for years. Heat pumps are the newer part of it, but the plumbing underneath is the same trade.

All three check the national Energy Performance Certificate register, so the answers are about your actual home rather than an average one.
Check your eligibility
Which Boiler Upgrade Scheme rate your property qualifies for, £7,500 or £9,000, based on your certificate and your current fuel.
Calculate your savings
What a heat pump could save against what you burn now. Uses your certificate, or your bills if there is no certificate on file.
Ask us something
Not ready for either, or you have a question that does not fit a form. Send a message and Ieuan will come back to you.
Before you get in touch
Do I have to pay the £9,000 and claim it back?
No. The grant is claimed by the installer, not by you. It's taken off your price before you pay, so there's nothing to reclaim and no waiting.
What if I am on mains gas rather than oil?
You're still eligible, at the standard £7,500 rate rather than £9,000. Everything else on this page applies to you in the same way.
How long does the whole thing take?
Typically a few weeks from first contact to install, depending on how busy we are and whether your property needs planning permission. The install itself is usually two to three days on site.
Will I need planning permission?
Most installations are permitted development, so no. Listed buildings, conservation areas and some flats are the usual exceptions. We tell you at survey stage, before you've committed to anything.
What happens to my oil tank?
Once the heat pump is running the tank is no longer needed. Removal and disposal can be included, and we'll price it as part of the quote rather than springing it on you later.
Are you MCS certified?
Your installation is certified to the MCS standard and registered, which is what the Boiler Upgrade Scheme requires. We're not the certificate holder ourselves. We install under the MCS umbrella of our umbrella provider, who hold the certification, audit the work and register your job.
That means if you search the MCS Find an Installer tool you'll find them rather than us. It's how a lot of smaller installers work, your certificate and grant are unaffected, and we're happy to show you the paperwork before you commit to anything. The longer explanation is here.
